The SBC and Helene
As a Southern Baptist, it’s easy to be hyper-critical of our cooperation of churches. No doubt, we have our problems.
Yet, despite the problems, the net result of such a large cooperation of churches produces what Erickson observed and stated so accurately on Twitter:
When SBC churches give to the SBC, no doubt, that money gets spread over multiple agencies, and it feels sometimes ineffective when we keep ourselves at a distance. Yet, my wife and I have top-tier master’s degrees from an SBC seminary because of how they are funded, and we have those degrees with no debt.
We have global and local work funded. We have disaster relief teams funded and mobilized because of that giving.
Some of us may need a reminder that cooperation in giving may not feel effective until we experience its effect.
So, keep doing good. Don’t stop doing good.
That is all. Carry on.
