Kingdom Framework Versus Church Framework: Understanding God’s Kingdom

The kingdom of God is the reign of God. It’s Jesus Christ, the Lord over all things in action. Wherever the will of God is being done, that’s where the kingdom is being manifested. – Bob Roberts

When we think about God’s kingdom, we probably don’t imagine it as it is. God’s kingdom is far more immediate and practical than we imagine.

It’s about His active reign and rule right here, right now, in every aspect of our lives and in every corner of creation. Just as a king’s authority extends to every corner of his realm, God’s kingdom touches every part of our world – from our workplaces to our homes, from our relationships to our daily decisions.

This isn’t about waiting for a future heaven. It is about participating in bringing the reality of God’s reign to reality on earth today. When we begin to grasp this truth, it transforms how we view our role in God’s metanarrative of the gospel. We’re not just waiting for a better world – we’re called to be active participants in bringing God’s order and goodness into all things.

‘And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.’ – Mark 1:14-15

How might your daily activities and decisions look different if you viewed them as opportunities to participate with God in advancing his kingdom rather than just routine tasks?

Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see Your kingdom at work around me. Help me understand that Your reign extends to every part of my life. Give me wisdom to recognize opportunities to bring Your order and goodness into my daily situations. Amen.
