God’s Call for Restoration and Accountability

God’s Call for Restoration and Accountability

Exodus 22:5 (ESV) 5 “If a man causes a field or vineyard to be grazed over or lets his beast loose and it feeds in another man’s field, he shall make restitution from the best in his own field and in his own vineyard.

God cares about repairing what negligence takes from others. So, he requires restitution so that those who lost at the hands of another are taken care of and the negligent learn to be diligent.

God’s heart for justice includes both accountability and restoration. When someone causes harm, God’s law doesn’t just demand punishment – it requires making things right. This principle of restitution shows us that God cares deeply about both justice and healing. He wants to restore what was lost and teach responsibility to those who caused harm. This balanced approach reminds us that true justice isn’t just about penalties. Justice is about restoration and growth. In our own lives, when we harm others or are harmed, God calls us to seek both accountability and healing.

How can you apply God’s principle of restoration in situations where you’ve caused harm or been harmed?

Prayer: Lord, give me the courage to make things right when I’ve caused harm, and the grace to seek restoration for the one who has wronged me. Help me reflect Your heart for both justice and healing. Amen.
